Low Back Pain & SciaticaRelief that reaches the root.
If your low back has been aching, catching, or sending pain down your leg, you do not have to keep living around it. Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cupping, and moxibustion work together to calm the pain and help your body heal.

What islow back pain?
Low back pain is the most common reason people walk into the clinic, and one of the most common reasons people miss work or stop doing the things they love. It can show up as a dull ache that never quite leaves, a sharp catch when you bend or lift, or a deep stiffness that makes it hard to stand up straight in the morning.
Sometimes it begins with a clear moment. Lifting something heavy, a fall, a long drive. More often it builds slowly over months and years from the way we sit, stand, sleep, and carry stress in the body. The low back holds the weight of everything above it, so when the muscles, joints, and nerves there are strained or inflamed, the whole body feels it.
Common sources include tight or strained muscles, irritated joints, pressure on a disc, old injuries that never quite healed, and the tension the body stores during heavy seasons of life.

What issciatica?
Sciatica is a particular kind of pain that travels. The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body. It begins in the low back, runs through the hip and buttock, and travels all the way down the back of the leg. When that nerve is pressed on or irritated, pain follows its path.
People often describe sciatica as a burning, shooting, or electric pain that runs from the low back or buttock down one leg. It can come with tingling, numbness, or a heavy, tired feeling in the leg or foot. It usually shows up on one side, and sitting, standing for a long time, or certain movements can set it off.
Sciatica is usually a sign that something is pressing on the nerve, often a disc, a tight muscle deep in the hip, or inflammation in the low back. The reassuring part is that the nerve itself is rarely harmed. It is being aggravated, and that aggravation can be calmed.
Calming the pain, and the cause beneath it.
Acupuncture treats low back pain and sciatica by working with your body rather than overriding it. Using fine, sterile needles placed at precise points, it eases the muscles, quiets the nerve, and invites circulation and healing into the area. It is gentle, it is drug free, and for most people it brings real relief.
The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as an effective treatment for back pain and sciatica. In nearly two decades of practice, these are among the conditions Dr. Vie treats most.
Four therapies,working together.
Low back pain and sciatica respond best when the body is supported from several directions at once. Dr. Vie weaves these therapies together into one plan, matched to your body.
Acupuncture
Fine, sterile needles at precise points release tight muscles, calm the irritated nerve, lower inflammation, and turn on the body natural pain relief. This is the heart of the work.
Chinese Herbs
Acupuncture works while you are on the table. Custom herbal formulas continue that work at home, easing inflammation, relaxing tight muscles, moving stuck blood and energy, and strengthening the low back so it holds the gains you make.
Cupping
Gentle suction lifts and releases the deep layers of muscle in the low back and hip and draws fresh circulation into areas that have been knotted and starved of blood flow. Many people feel an immediate sense of lightness afterward.
Moxibustion
A therapeutic herb called mugwort is warmed over specific points. That deep, soothing heat penetrates the low back and hip, eases stiffness, and is especially comforting for pain that feels worse in cold or damp weather.
